Focusing on You
01 — Granting Yourself Permission
Giving yourself permission to take the necessary time out for you can be extremely challenging. Cultivating an intention around self-care and self-love can increase your awareness towards a healthier physical, mental, and spiritual state of being.
02 — Creating Reflective Spaces
Though quiet spaces are preferred, the modern lifestyle and yogi/yogini recognizes that these spaces may not always look this way. Find a place that helps to create an environment for a felt sense reflection. This can look like a mindful walk in nature, taking a bath, listening to music, or sitting quietly in a private space. Create a reflective space that feels supportive enough for you to safely unpack your Self.
03 — Breathe
The mystic powers of the breath have been observed by the sages for thousands of years. One of the closest and most available tools, the breath, helps to redirect your attention and energy in hopes of removing blockages and increase vitality. The breathing techniques and practices of yoga also help increase parasympathetic output, decrease stress hormones, and increase mental health. Take a moment to focus on your breath. Notice the rise and fall of each exhalation and inhalation. Feel the coolness and warmth of each breath. Allow your attention to linger here for a moment.
04 — Observing Without Judgement
The goal of our yoga practice is the ability to observe ourselves without judgement. Observation without judgement increases compassion and empathy towards ourselves and one another. While sitting quietly observe the fluctuations of the mind and body, welcoming in a sense of acceptance and loving kindness. “The highest form of spiritual practice is self-observation without judgment” -Swami Kripalu
“The wound is the place where the Light enters you”
